As a child, the thought of drinking tea or coffee just didn’t appeal to me. I used to find them too strong and bitter in taste. Now as an adult, I still feel the same about coffee (dont judge me!) but I don’t think I could live without tea. Recently I have been feeling bloated and looking to live a more healthier lifestyle… so when Cuppatea reached out to me to review their 14 Day Teatox programme, I jumped at the chance.
What is Cuppatea?
“It’s a natural process of cleansing your body through tea drinking. Your body eliminates unwanted toxins from the lungs, kidneys, bowels and skin naturally. Teatoxing also helps you to reduce bloating, increase metabolism and burn fat.” – From the Cuppatea Website. – So far so good! Whilst I don’t want to lose any weight, I wouldn’t mind losing my pot belly, and the toxin cleanse sounds great.
The 14 Day Teatox comes with 14 teabags of Morningtime Detox and 7 teabags of Bedtime Cleanse. This option is recommended for anyone who is new to teatoxes. There is also a 28 Day Teatox available on the Cuppatea website. The inside of the box has a Teatox Plan, so all the basic information is always on hand.
To summarise this plan, the Teatox should not be used as a meal replacement, but instead as part of a healthy diet. You should drink plenty of water, eat fruit and vegetable, try to avoid unhealthy, processed food, and incorporate some exercise into your lifestyle.
The Morningtime Detox should be taken every morning for the 14 days, whereas the Bedtime Cleanse is every other day, starting the day you first begin your Teatox. The tea bags look very similar, so have different coloured tags, in case you mix them up.
How to use Cuppatea?
As explained above, the morningtime detox should be taken every day, and the bedtime cleanse every other day. Use these tea bags like any other herbal tea – place in a cup or mug, and add boiling water. You should let it rest for three minutes, to let it all infuse. I’m quite fussy when it comes to food and drink. I don’t like anything that has a strong smell, but I found this tea very pleasant, it’s similar to any other green tea. You can add in natural sweeteners, lemon, peppermint leaves or honey into your tea to suit to your taste. I added a teaspoon of rasberry flavoured honey and it was delicious. The Bedtime Cleanse has the floral taste of chamomile, which also helps you to sleep better.

Cuppatea recommend that you start your teatox on a weekend (or whenever you have a couple of days off), just in case your body needs time to adjust to the natural elimination process.
Ingredients List
Taken from Cuppatea website. Make sure you’re not allergic to any of the ingredients, before starting the Teatox.
Morningtime detox: Mate leaves, Chinese oolong tea, Ginger root, Lotus leaves, Lemongrass, Ginseng root, Dandelion leaf, Gotu kola leaves, Nettle leaves.
Note: The Morningtime detox does not produce a laxative effect but contains a small amount of caffeine.
Bedtime Cleanse: Senna leaves, Burdock root, Liquorice root, Hawthorn leaves, Fenugreek seeds, Peppermint leaves, Chamomile, Psyllium seeds.
Note: The Bedtime Cleanse produces a laxative effect to naturally cleanse and detoxify your body, approximately 8 hours after usage
My First Impressions
To be honest, I’ve been putting off starting this Teatox programme because I have an incredibly sensitive stomach, and have to be very careful about what I eat and drink. However, I don’t have any extravagant plans for today or tomorrow, so I thought it would be a good time to start. The tea itself was pleasant, therefore easy to consume. I had my first Morningtime Detox tea this morning at 9.30am, and it is now 1.30pm (at time of writing). I was expecting uncomfortable cramping sensations, but I have experienced nothing of the sort. The only side effect to mention, is that it has made me very thirsty. I’ve drunk about 750ml of water so far, so I suppose another consequential side effect is that I’ve had to empty my bladder more frequently (to put it nicely). The Bedtime Cleanse has laxative effects, so I will update you immediately if I experience any negative side effects after that. Follow me on Instagram for daily updates.
If you would like to try a teatox for weight loss, help in burning fat, or as a toxic cleanse, you can purchase the Cuppatea 14 Day or 28 Day Teatox here. Cuppatea were kind enough to provide me with a discount code for my readers: Use blogcreatifa15off for 15% off your order.
I look forward to incorporating this tea into my daily lifestyle (the pretty packaging already fits in beautifully on my desk). I will post a full review at the end of the 14 days. Please don’t hesitate to ask me if you have any further questions.

Can’t stand coffee either. Quite like peppermint tea, which helps soothe any tummy rage too!

High five to that!!
I usually stick to PG Tips, but I’ve enjoyed the morning and bedtime teas today, so I’ll definitely be picking up some flavoured teas. Peppermint sounds yum! xx

I had to do a Google Search to see what you were talking about. Thank for the recommendation. The waitrose near me stocks it, they’ve got a great variety. I couldn’t find popcorn though. 😦 xx

I like coffee and tea but I “need” coffee whereas tea is a “nice to have”. I keep buying teas or receiving them gifts. I’d like to drink more tea to help detox the system – there are so many benefits from drinking certain teas it seems! How have you liked the detox now? Any stomach issues?

I “need” tea. I get headaches on the days I skip it. I guess coffee would have the same effect if I could stomach the taste.
I only started yesterday but I’m already feeling less bloated. I had four stomach cramps in the space of half an hour this morning, but nothing uncomfortable. I’m feeling “cleansed”. It helps that I drink a lot of water anyway, otherwise I imagine I’d feel dehydrated. xx
