A big thank you to Madam W, of POMAD, for this award. The award was originally created by Caitlin:

Okay, so I made my own award : The Daydreamer Award! The award is for the blogs that make, you laugh, are inspiring, provoke your curiosity or are just unbelievably creative.

When you do receive the award, make a post and follow these steps:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award.
2. Complete the challenge they set you.
3. Select a blog or blogs that you want to give the award to. (The amount of blogs you select is unlimited!)
4. Tell them about it and set them a challenge.
5. You can link my blog at the bottom (but only if you want to).

The challenge set by Madam W:
Share an embarrassing/funny story about yourself.

When I saw this, I thought ‘oh that’s not so bad’ but still, here I am, desperately trying to think of something…

Okay, so this is from when I was about eleven or twelve years old. We used to watch Gladiators on television, every Saturday evening. For those of you who don’t know what Gladiators is, you missed out, my friends!
image“Gladiators is a television entertainment series which involves contestants from all walks of life battling against a ‘Gladiator’ in a number of events in order to secure points for the final event, The Eliminator. Typically, four contenders would appear in each episode, two male and two female, with the exception of charity or celebrity specials, and each contender would compete in five or six events, depending on the series or time restraints.” ~ Wikipedia
Former Olympic and Commonwealth swimming champion, Sharron Davies, was one of the ‘Gladiators’ but was known by her ‘Gladiator’ name Amazon. Other ‘Gladiators’ were Jet, Cobra, Trojan, Wolf, Lightning, and Warrior, to name a few.

Needless to say, we watched the show religiously EVERY Saturday, and the ‘Gladiators’ were like superheroes to us. We used to recreate the challenges at home and have hours of fun.

On a particular winter’s evening, I was with my family, in our local town centre, and I saw one of the ‘Gladiators’. Just imagine my excitement!
I rushed over to my sister and said “look, it’s Cobra!”. I remembered reading somewhere that he was here to take part in the Christmas pantomime, at our local theatre. My sister didn’t really react. Looking back, she was in her early teens, in that awkward phase in between a child and an adult, so it wouldn’t have been ‘cool’ for her to care. I knew my brothers would be excited, but they were trailing behind with my parents. I ran back to mum and dad to tell them that Cobra was walking ahead of us.

With their consent, I ran ahead, my brothers running behind me. My parents picked up speed, so they were not too far behind. As I got closer, my shyness overcame me and I slowed down. Dad encouraged me to carry on, and said “Go on… what did you say his name was?”
“Cobra” I replied.
Just then, Cobra stopped, turned round and said “actually, I’m Warrior”.

😳 😱😩

I was SO embarrassed, but Cobra Warrior was really sweet and spoke to us for a couple of minutes, before he had to rush off. If something like that happened to me now, I would probably laugh it off but back then it felt like the end of the world. In my defence, sunset was at around 4pm, so it was dark and I couldn’t see properly!

    1. You’re welcome. I admire your dedication, you post at least once a day, so I think you’ve already got more posts than me! Baked goodies and the wonders of being a mummy – what’s not to love?

      1. Haha thank you! Luckily I have cut down my working hours so posting once a day is currently not an issue for me! 🙂
